Good Ideas for Family New Year’s Resolutions

Before the arrival of the New Year, we often make a list of goals that remain on paper. I think it’s a good idea to get together as a family and make this list, but it’s important to do it with the genuine purpose of committing ourselves to what we are writing. I believe that having these kinds of family moments unites us, and also allows us to create a culture of motivation at home.
Below I will share four ideas that can help us achieve what we set out to do:

Give Meaning to What We Do

For me, this is the starting point. It’s important to think that everything we do, we do because it’s important to us. And in this sense, we can learn a lot from our children because they give so much meaning to what they do. When they play, when they tell you a story, when they ask you to read them a story &mdash everything they do means a great deal to them. These activities make children happy, which is why they take them very seriously. How can we move this attitude to other aspects of our lives? I think that families ought to create a list of purposes and goals for the New Year.

Set Realistic Goals

This is a super-powerful message for our children: Our dreams can come true whenever we think of feasible goals. However, it takes small steps to reach our dreams, and these small steps and achievable goals require our best efforts to achieve them.

Keep Your Internal Motivation On

This is perhaps the biggest challenge: It’s important to stay focused on what we want to achieve, and always feel motivated to achieve our goals. What can we do as a family to stay motivated? Chances are, you learned as a child that we have to make our own path &mdash and that is a great lesson for life in general. As parents, we can support our children to feel confident in their abilities and see all the possibilities they have.

Celebrate Small Achievements

Do not miss out on this important practice! Celebrating our daily victories makes us appreciate our efforts. This also makes us aware of how capable we are. In addition, each time we appreciate what we have done well, we also train our optimistic thinking abilities, and become motivated to enjoy an upward spiral of positive emotions and creativity.
