Hoho boards Juana la Iguana series

UK-based production and distribution company Hoho Entertainment has
come on board an animated series based on the Latin American
children’s character Juana la Iguana.

Juana la Iguana (52×11′) will be co-developed and coproduced by Hoho with Miami-based JLI.

The character first appeared in the 1990s in a Spanish language live-action series that aired around Latin America, as well as the US on Telemundo,
and has more recently featured in apps and educational games.

The new series will see the character become a mentor and guide to a pair of youngsters, leading them on adventures where they learn
that kindness and compassion are the problem-solving tools for any difficulty.

The original show was created by Tania Gilinski, along with partners Amanda Quijano and Anita Katz, who are all working on the latest version, along with Ronit Shiro, who came on board in 2018 as head of business development for the brand. C21 first reported on the reboot in 2017.

“Juana is a unique and lovable character whose values of kindness and
compassion are as important now as when she first appeared,” said Helen
Howells and Oliver Ellis, joint MDs, Hoho Entertainment, in a joint
statement.

London-based Hoho develops, produces and sells children’s properties on
all media platforms. The company currently represents brands such as
Shane the Chef, Cloudbabies, The Overcoat, Little Luke & Lucy and
Everybody Loves a Moose.
